Call for Nominations/Volunteers

It is that time of the year for your local section's elections!

The Southern Arizona Local Section of the American Chemical Society is seeking nominations (or volunteers) to join the executive committee in the coming year. If you, or another ACS member you know, would like to join the governing committee, send us your nominations.

The following positions are available for the coming year:
  • Chair (2-year commitment)
  • Chair Elect (3-year commitment)
  • Alternate Counselor (3-year commitment)
  • Secretary (2-year commitment)

If you can, please submit all nomination to the Benjamin Zarin, Chair, no later than Friday, November 8th, 2019.

Help Take Chemistry 'Magic' Shows to Local Classrooms!

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry (CBC) at the University of Arizona is pleased to offer science demonstration "magic" shows to K-12 schools and other community organizations in the Tucson area during the academic year. While CBC student magicians don’t charge a fee, there is a small cost involved in presenting each show. Due to budget cuts, the CBC department no longer has funds available for outreach programs such as these, so while we would like to continue these shows at no cost, it just isn’t possible. Unfortunately, most K-12 schools don’t have funds available to pay for extras such as this and will be forced to miss out on these education and entertaining presentations.
