College Educator Award

Recognizing excellence in teaching chemistry, biochemistry, or related disciplines at post-secondary institutions within the Southern Arizona Local Section of the ACS.

This award honors exceptional educators who demonstrate excellence in teaching chemistry, biochemistry, or a chemistry-related field at a post-secondary institution that does not offer a Ph.D.-granting program in that field.

Rules of Eligibility

  • Who may nominate: Any individual, except a member of the award selection committee, may submit one nomination or support form in any given year.
  • Who is eligible: The nominee must currently be teaching a chemistry-related discipline and must not have received this award in the past. The nominee must reside within the Southern Arizona Local Section of the American Chemical Society.
  • Award Amount: $1,000

Required Components of the Nomination Portfolio

The Awards Committee will consider only complete nomination portfolios that include:

  • A Nomination Portfolio Cover Sheet
  • A Nominee Information Form
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Letters of nomination and support (up to three total)
  • Summary statement of approximately 1,000 words describing teaching philosophy and accomplishments
  • Evidence of mentoring and educational impact, student engagement, or community outreach

Additional letters of support from students are encouraged.
