Southern AZ ACS invites all K−12 students to participate in the 2025 CCEW Contest: "Glaciers: Hot Topic, Cool Chemistry!"
This year, Chemists Celebrate Earth Week (CCEW) honors the International Year of Glacier Preservation, highlighting the vital role glaciers play in building a more sustainable world during CCEW, taking place from April 20–26, 2025.
Glaciers are massive ice formations that develop over long periods as layers of snow accumulate and compact. When snowfall consistently exceeds melting, these glaciers grow, shaping landscapes and influencing global climate patterns.
Beyond their breathtaking beauty, glaciers serve critical environmental functions. They help regulate global temperatures, control sea levels, and provide freshwater through seasonal ice melt—supporting ecosystems and human life alike. Preserving glaciers is essential to maintaining Earth’s delicate climate balance.

As in past years, the Southern Arizona ACS is excited to celebrate Chemists Celebrate Earth Week (CCEW) by sponsoring an Illustrated Poem Contest for K–12 students across Arizona.
